The biking in Thingvellir tour takes you to Thingvellir national park, the birthplace of the world’s oldest parliament. The site is set where the North American and European tectonic plates keep. The plates keep drifting apart which makes it a spectacular geological site to visit.
Thingvellir has been one of the most popular attractions in Iceland for decades because of its amazing history and beautiful landscape. On the biking in Thingvellir tour, you will enjoy exciting trails and secret spots where you can enjoy the astonishing landscape peacefully, away from the crowd. You will experience a fantastic ride along the beautiful lake Thingvellir and the famous fissure of Almannagja where you will literally be in between the two tectonic plates. This is a place that boasts otherworldly landscapes of volcanoes, lakes, birch forest and endless lava fields.
Good to know before Biking in Thingvellir
Meeting point:. This tour is operated from Bike company’s main office at Faxafen 8. Please be at the meeting point 15 minutes before departure unless you’ve made arrangements to be picked up at your hotel.
Pick up: Pick up at your hotel 30 minutes before departure.
Group size: From 2 – 10 participants.
Duration: 5 hours.
Biking distance: ~10 – 15 kilometers.

Your personal equipment: Participants need to be prepared for a wide range of weather. Expect the temperature to dip down to below 10°C (below 50°F) and to warm up to 15-20°C (60-70°F). Bring a small backpack, warm clothing, rain gear, good shoes and warm gloves.
Activity Level – Easy. The technical ability for Biking in Thingvellir is easy for beginners and novice riders. The fitness level is rated as good. As you know, the fitter you are the more fun you’ll have. This trip is not demanding but keep in mind that the weather can be cold, even in summer.
Your Safety: This trip takes place in the countryside of Iceland. If you choose to participate in this tour it is up to you to ride well within your limits and be mindful of your own safety and your actions that may affect the safety of the group. Participants must make sure to stay hydrated, nourished and rested. Any alcohol or drug consumption is prohibited during our rides. Our guides have first aid training but if a serious injury occurs they will call local Search and Rescue services at the cost of the participant. Personal medical travel insurance is mandatory.
