Tour Description

This comprehensive tour covers all the major attractions of southwest Iceland. We leave Reykjavik following convenient hotel pickup for a full-day tour of southwestern Iceland. Drive to Thingvellir National Park during the Golden Circle part of your tour. Soak in the majestic beauty of the mountains framing Lake Laugarvatn. Learn about this original site of Iceland’s parliament and that it is best-known for the area’s high level of seismic activity.

We stop at Geysir, also known as the Great Geysir. See Strokkur,it’ss smaller neighbor that erupts every few minutes with bursts a sparkling blue water. We head to the Gullfoss, the Queen of Icelandic waterfalls. Next we visit Faxi waterfall, little less know and smaller, but very beautiful. On our lunch break we stop at Friðheimar, a greenhouse made restaurant, and eat within the tomato vine. After a delecious lunch we head to Kerið, a volcanic crater before we drive to the Blue Lagoon.

The Blue Lagoon

The Blue Lagoon is located a short distance from the fishing port of Grindavík on the Reykjanes peninsula in the southwest. The Blue Lagoon is today one of Iceland’s most popular tourist attractions. It is created by water from the nearby Svartsengi geothermal power plant. Its warm, mineral- rich waters are said to be effective in the treatment of psoriasis and a variety of other skin complaints and it is certainly a great place for swimming and bathing.
