Tour Description

Have you ever wondered how the center of the Earth looks like? If no, grab the book “Journey to the center of the Earth” by Jules Verne and start exploring magical Sæfellenses Peninsula. In the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, you will enjoy dramatic landscapes, fishing villages, and beautiful mountains. This program will also lead you to beautiful waterfalls, hot springs, glaciers and black sand beach in the south of Iceland, the places that everybody is talking about.

Day 1: Welcome to Iceland, Reykjanes Peninsula, Blue Lagoon and Reykjavík

Pick up your car and start exploring right away (if time allows). Visit the less known Reykjanes peninsula. You will feel the geothermal activity in this volcanic peninsula. Visit Gunnuhver, Iceland’s largest hot spring, the extraordinary bridge between two continents where you can be in two different continents at the same time!

Day 2: Waterfalls, Glaciers and the Black Sand Beach

Today is all about the well-known South Coast of Iceland, with its black sand beach, two amazing waterfalls and the southernmost village in Iceland, Vík and much more!

Overnight accommodation: South Iceland

Approximate driving distance:  320 km/ 200 miles

Highlights: Eyfjafjallajökull Volcano, Seljalandsfoss waterfall, Gljúfrabúi waterfall, Sólheimajökull Glacier, Vík the southernmost village in Iceland, Reynisfjara black sand beach, Dyrhólaey Arch, Skógafoss Waterfall.

Day 3: Magnificent Golden Circle and Borgarfjörður

Visit the famous Golden Circle, the powerful Gullfoss waterfall, the 100 years old Geyser and the UNESCO World Heritage national park Þingvellir. Drive towards the Borgarnes and through the Hvalfjörður tunnel and if the daylight and time allow, visit Hraunfossar waterfalls, Barnafoss waterfall, and Deildartunguhver hot spring.

Day 4 Journey to the Center of the Earth

Drive to the peninsula of Snæfellsnes (the peninsula of the snowy mountain) with the glacier Snæfellsjökull, where according to Jules Verne´s book the entrance to the center of the earth can be found. Take a short walk on the Djúpalónssandur beach and continue to Arnarstapi a village with a small harbour and go for a short walk there to enjoy the bird life and views.

Approximate driving distance: 380 km/235 miles

Highlights: Mt. Kirkjufell, Snæfellsness National Park, Snæfellsness Glacier, Arnarstapi, Hellnar, Lóndrangar, Djúpalónssandur, Fishing villages.

Day 5: Departure

This is your last day before check in for your flight back home.

If your flight is in the afternoon explore Reykjavík City and stop on your way to the Keflavík Airport at Blue Lagoon. Have a safe journey home!
